Garmin announced its new Approach G7 and G8 GPS units today, giving golfers innovative devices that help elevate their golf game.
Loaded with more than 30,000 international courses (with free course updates for life), the latest additions to the Approach series give golfers Garmin's proven accurate read on distances while packing these state-of-the-art devices with more features than ever before. The G7 and G8 feature bright touchscreens to make it easy to read on under the relentless sun, but are also rainproof for those not-so-sunny days. In addition to measuring distance, they also keep track of fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round. The built-in digital scorecard also records and saves scores of up to four people at a time. Scoring options include Stroke Play, Stableford, Skins and Match Play with adjustable handicaps.
Unlike other golf GPS devices on the market, the innovative Approach G7 and G8 GPS units can sync directly to your iPhone (4s or later). Rummaging around in your golf bag while looking for your phone can be a hassle. Eliminate the fuss and have your texts, emails and alerts sent directly to the unit.
In addition, the new devices have improved accuracy, thanks to cutting-edge PlaysLike Distance technology. The GPS units adjust for both uphill and downhill shots and give golfers precise distances to their target.
These are just a few of the awesome new features that the G7 and G8 are equipped with. See all of the features the new units offer below. One thing is for sure. Using these new units will put you ahead on the golf course by giving you precise distances, offering you club suggestions and tracking your progress.
Features available on both the G7 and G8:
Easy-to-Read Touchscreen and Big Numbers Mode
The touchscreen (2.6" on the G7, 3" on the G8) is bright and easy to read even during the brightest days on the course. The Approach makes color-coded layup arcs, touch targeting and manual pin placement come alive. For an even clearer view, you can increase the font size for the distances to the front, back and middle of the green.
New to Garmin's line of handheld GPS units is Smart Notification. Receive emails, texts and alerts directly on the device without having to dig around your golf bag for your iPhone. Smart notification is compatible with iPhones (4s or later).
The GPS units automatically remembers how far you hit each club, and offers recommendations on which club to use based on your previously recorded shot distances.
With enhanced stats, the G7 and G8 keep track of fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round. Stats can be reviewed during the round on the course, and they can also be downloaded for later review.
Accuracy is improved with the new, innovative PlaysLike Distance feature. The GPS adjusts for both uphill and downhill shots and gives golfers precise distances to their target.
Use Green View to zero in on the pin and drag the flag to position it where you see it, giving you more accurate yardage.
Sleek Yet Rugged Design
The rugged device allows you to use the GPS in a rainstorm or keep it in your bag without fear of damage.
Become part of the online golfer community by sharing your scores and comparing rounds. The G7 and G8 are now compatible with Garmin Connect, giving golfers the chance to upload, analyze and share scorecards and other data, including fairways hits and number of putts. With Garmin Connect, golfers can keep track of whom they’ve played and who won each round. Garmin Connect also tracks golfers’ tendencies, trends and progress, helping golfers improve their game over time.
Exclusive G8 features:
With built-in WiFi, the Approach G8 will automatically download course updates whenever it is connected to a WiFi network with no additional charge.
Find the center of the green, even if you can’t see it, with PinPointer technology! The unique feature points you in the right direction for more accurate blind shots.
The G8's 3" screen with Big Numbers mode make touch targeting and manual pin placement a breeze.
