Tips and Help with Your COROS Watch
How do I continue a structured workout when the preset goal is reached?
When following a structured workout on the COROS watch through Training mode or Training Plan mode, sometimes we would like to continue the workout even if we have reached the preset distance or duration goal instead of ending it right away. Is it possible with COROS?
The answer is YES. Please change the following setting on your COROS watch to allow the same workout to continue unless you press the BACK button.
- Training/Training Plan mode > select the program to start > Settings > Next Set/Exercise > Manual Start.
- Once Manual Start is selected, you will need to manually start each session in this workout.
Can I still have the watch automatically start the next session when the goal is reached for most of the sessions in the same workout? Yes, I recommend having Auto Start selected at first and change the setting before or during the session that you would like to continue via Toolbox menu.
- On the data page or pause page > press and hold the BACK button to access Toolbox menu > select Workout Settings > Next Set/Exercise > Manual Start.
How do I train with Track Run mode for structured programs on my COROS watch?
COROS supports creating a track run workout easily on the COROS app and sending it to your COROS watch to follow.
When you are ready to train on a track, follow the steps below to start the track run workout properly on your COROS watch.
- Go to Training
- Select the desired Run program
- Scroll down on the Start page and go to Mode - Regular
- Select Track Run and confirm the correct lane you are on
- Press Start to begin training
How do I create a route with checkpoints in GPX format for my COROS watch?
Whether you decide to plot a new trail from scratch or add checkpoints to existing routes, we recommend using plotaroute.com, a web-based route planner. The following instructions are based on its free account. COROS is not associated with plotaroute.com and their features may change without notice.
- Create an account on https://www.plotaroute.com/.
- On the home page, select how you want to create a new route.
- After the route is created, click on "DIR'NS".
- Select "ADD" to add new checkpoints to the route.
- A new checkpoint will show up on the route.
- Click and drag it along the route. [1]
- Then click "ADD DIRECTIONS HERE" [2] to edit name and other info.
- Repeat previous steps to add more checkpoints.
- Click "MANAGE" to delete unwanted ones.
- If you have a GPX file ready and just need to add checkpoints, select "Upload a Route" from the "Create" menu on the home page and follow the above steps to add checkpoints.
- Once finished editing, click "SAVE" to save this to your account.
- Locate this route from "ROUTES" > "My Routes". Click on the route name to view this route.
- Click "DOWNLOAD" and follow the screenshot below to select the correct settings to ensure that checkpoints are included in the exported GPX file.
- Send the downloaded GPX file to your phone via email, AirDrop or other methods.
- Open it on your phone via the COROS app.
- Save the route to the route library.
- Edit the checkpoint names or delete unwanted checkpoints.
- Sync the route to your watch and it's ready for your next outdoor workout.
How do I use checkpoint features?
Checkpoint features require route navigation support from your COROS watch. Visit this link if you need help with COROS route navigation.
Models that support checkpoint features:
-
- COROS APEX 42mm/46mm
- COROS APEX Pro
- COROS VERTIX
COROS PACE/PACE 2 doesn't support route navigation or checkpoint features.
Checkpoint features allow users to record current location during outdoor workouts or navigate with checkpoint-enabled GPS tracks on COROS watches.
Before and during workouts
Outdoor workouts without route navigation
Your COROS watch records a real-time GPS route which can be viewed during any outdoor workouts.
-
- Simply go to Toolbox menu from any data page and select Map to view the route you have travelled.
- In order to mark the current position on the route, select Save Location from Toolbox menu and press to confirm after the GPS coordinates show up.
- A new checkpoint will show up on the GPS route within Map.
- This is very useful if you need to record locations to the GPS route for the remaining workout or future use.
Outdoor workouts with route navigation
Your COROS watch can record checkpoints during route navigation.
-
- Go to Toolbox menu from any data page and select Save Location to create a checkpoint of your position and add it to the current route.
- Added checkpoints remain in this workout even if you end the current navigation or start navigating a new route.
Outdoor workouts with route navigation using checkpoint-enabled GPX files
GPX files with checkpoints can be imported and viewed on the COROS app and used with your COROS watch.
-
- After saving the GPX file to the COROS app, you can easily view the segment details between each checkpoint, edit the name and delete unwanted checkpoints.
- During the route navigation, a dedicated checkpoint page will show up and display the name of the next checkpoint as well as the remaining distance & elevation to the next checkpoint.
- These checkpoints will be marked in orange on the breadcrumb route and elevation profile pages.
- New checkpoints of your current location can be added manually to the route via the Toolbox > Save Location function and they will be marked in green compared to the orange ones from the GPX file.
Post workout and data sync
-
- Once the workout is finished and data is synced to the COROS app, checkpoints can be viewed on the workout details page.
- Saving this GPS route to the Route Library on the app enables you to edit the checkpoint names or delete unwanted checkpoints.
- You can also export and share this checkpoint-enabled GPS route file via GPX format.
How do I ensure proper distance tracking for indoor runs?
For runners who prefer to train on a treadmill or an indoor track, COROS offers Indoor Run mode to track workout data such as pace, distance, heart rate and more. However, it is challenging for GPS watches to accurately track your indoor running data due to the lack of GPS.
Running at a consistent pace is the number 1 rule to ensure accurate distance tracking for indoor runs. Consider doing warm-up and cool-down sessions in separate workouts.
The good news is that you can follow the tips below to ensure proper tracking of your next indoor run.
- Utilize the Treadmill function on the watch to lock the pace and receive accurate distance info.
- On the watch > Indoor Run > Treadmill > enter the same pace as shown on the treadmill > start training.
-
COROS watches support calibration in Indoor Run workouts that recorded distance over 2 miles/2 km. Calibration range is up to +/- 25% of the distance recorded by the watch.
- Pair with a supported running accessory such as Stryd Pod to ensure the indoor run data accuracy. Click on the link below to learn details on how to pair a Stryd Pod to your COROS watch.
Unfortunately COROS POD doesn't offer enhanced pace related data nor can it be used to enhance indoor distance tracking. COROS POD offers advanced running metrics and form power to help you run efficiently and injury-free.
COROS watches utilize cadence to estimate pace with the help of a powerful cadence-pace model. With this model, the watch can estimate pace when you are running at different cadences. If you run with the same cadence, the pace will remain the same. A higher cadence results in a faster pace. If your pace appears to be wrong and needs to be updated, you can rely on the post-workout distance calibration on the watch. The watch will use the average cadence (150 for instance) of the workout and the new distance to calculate the new pace for that cadence (150), updating the cadence-pace model. All the other cadences will receive an update via the model. The pace will be correct the next time you run indoors with any cadence.
Why does COROS PACE 2 not offer trail running, hiking, climbing, and skiing modes?
The COROS PACE 2 Premium GPS Sport Watch is the lightest GPS watch on the market and as such is the perfect training partner for athletes aiming to achieve their new personal best. The lightweight design of the PACE 2 promotes excellent wrist-based optical HR and an improved running experience, but also utilizes materials that are less resistant to direct impact often found in the mountains and on trails. In addition, the digital dial on the COROS PACE 2 is smaller as compared to other watch models in the COROS line making it more difficult to control when wearing climbing or thick winter gloves.
So if you find yourself primarily training on the roads or flat land and speed and weight are of paramount importance, the COROS PACE 2 is the watch for you. If trail running, climbing, skiing and other mountain/water/winter sports are critical to your training, check out the COROS Apex Pro or the COROS Vertix.
How do download workouts and training plans from TrainingPeaks to my COROS watch?
COROS now supports direct download of training plans and workouts from TrainingPeaks for the next 7 days (including today). Please follow the instructions below to sync and start the training plan on your COROS watch.
-
- Update your COROS app to the latest version.

COROS is all about simplicity and efficiency when it comes to watch operation and user experience. Through research and user feedback, we found that less than 0.3% of the workouts need to be deleted after 1 minute. Adding this function not only increases the risk of mistakenly deleting an activity but also adds additional steps for all other users.
You may reset the watch, returning the watch to the factory settings. This will delete all activities and customization settings on your COROS watch. However, this will not delete any data saved on your COROS account.

For every 120 seconds, the GPS is switched on for 30 seconds. COROS’ Intelligent Stride algorithm along with motion sensors will kick in for the remaining 90 seconds.
Every outdoor run using full GPS mode and calibrated indoor run improve the Intelligent Stride algorithm and enhances the tracking of your next running workout in weak or no GPS signal conditions including workouts in UltraMax mode.
To enable the UltraMax GPS mode, please start an outdoor running workout such as Run, Trail Run and Hike. Then press and hold the BACK/LAP button to open the toolbox/shortcut menu. Scroll to locate the UltraMax setting and switch it on.
It is recommended to calibrate the compass before using this feature.
How do I use Night Mode?
Night Mode provides low brightness level always-on backlight for training at night or darker conditions. Frequently activating the standard backlight will drain the battery life on your COROS watch. Why is the best mile/km pace not the same as my best lap pace?
We all love how informative the workout summary on the COROS app workout details page is. However, some users may notice that the best mile/km pace from the workout summary isn't the same as their best mi/km lap pace found on the lap details chart. The reason is because the watch calculates the best mile/km pace based on consecutive segments rather than rolling segments. As a result, if your lap setting isn't 1 or if you have a few shorter laps, the best mile/km pace is likely to be different than the best pace highlighted in blue in the lap details chart.
How do I reset my COROS watch?
There are 2 ways to reset your COROS watch.
- On the watch
- System > More Settings > Reset > Reset All
- On the COROS app when the watch is connected

Watch reset will not affect the data synced to your COROS account in any way. However, the data and personalized settings stored on the watch will be removed as the watch returns to the factory setting.
Watch reset will not clear the Bluetooth connection information stored on your phone. The watch/phone connection should be automatically re-established momentarily after the reset.
Certain hardware/software bugs and issues can be fixed by performing a watch reset.
Do COROS watches offer location sharing services?
Location sharing comes in handy when you or your loved ones are training alone or would like to monitor the training progress. However, built-in cellular capabilities are required in order to share GPS location information directly from the watch. Like most GPS watches that have a standalone GPS module to record your location for post-workout analysis, COROS watches don't have built-in cellular capabilities and need to utilize your phone's GPS and cellular service to send location information during workouts for live tracking. Below are some of the popular location sharing phone apps used by COROS users.
-
-
Google maps
- Find My iPhone

How do COROS watches track my sleep?
All COROS watches support 24/7 sleep tracking with the latest firmware update. The below steps show how our algorithms work.
- Set up the sleep start time on the COROS app as close to when you actually fall asleep as possible.
- COROS app > Profile page > Profile Setting > Sleep Tracking > Start Time.
- Wear the watch properly on your wrist so that the HR sensor can detect your heart rate to monitor your sleep status. The sleep tracking will be affected if the watch is loosely worn or your arm has frequent movements.
- The watch will start checking if you are asleep one hour before the sleep start time. If you fall asleep 30 minutes prior to the sleep start time, the sleep tracking will start 30 minutes before.
- Your COROS watch will continue tracking your sleep even if you take bathroom breaks within the first 6 hours from the time when the watch detects that you are asleep.
- Your watch will stop tracking the sleep after the 6-hour mark once you are awake. It won't resume tracking your sleep even if you fall back to sleep later.
- For instance, your sleep start time is set at 11 pm but you don't sleep until 1 am. When you wake up at 6 am and go back to sleep after 5 minutes, the watch will continue tracking your sleep.
- If you fall asleep at 1 am but wake up at 8 am, the watch will stop tracking your sleep even if you go back to sleep after 5 minutes.
