Written by Marc Sheforgen, Lead Editor of PlayBetter's Golf Simulator Experts.

Rapsodo has built a reputation for bringing impressive golf technology and meaningful performance data to more golfers without requiring a five-figure investment. Now, the company is taking a much bigger step.

Rapsodo has announced the all-new MLM2XPRO, along with an entirely new connected Rapsodo Golf ecosystem built around a new Rapsodo Golf Mobile App, Rapsodo's first-ever PC App, and the new Rapsodo Studios 4K simulation experience.

And this isn't simply a faster version of the MLM2PRO.

The MLM2XPRO brings some of the features golfers have been asking for—including simulation putting, faster shot-to-show performance, easier setup and alignment, a new on-unit LED screen, and an upgraded tripod—while the new software ecosystem is designed to connect practice, performance tracking, virtual golf, and simulation in a much more complete experience.

The MLM2XPRO is scheduled to be available for order on October 15, 2026, for $899.99, including 12 Callaway or Titleist RPT golf balls and a 21-day trial of Rapsodo Core.

And there is a lot more to this launch than the hardware.

The new Rapsodo ecosystem is designed to take golfers from the driving range to the home simulator and back again, with R-Cloud syncing data across compatible devices and apps. The new Rapsodo Studios membership adds premium 4K course play, while Core provides the training and virtual-golf foundation.

That's why we're particularly excited about this one.

Our PlayBetter golf tech experts Marc, Daniel, and Danny are currently putting the MLM2XPRO and the new Rapsodo software ecosystem through their paces. We'll have a much more thorough review, along with a new Golf Tech Weekly podcast, once they've had the opportunity to test everything.

In the meantime, we also have an early look from our trusted review partner Frank at Golficity, who has already spent time with the new MLM2XPRO and beta software.

Here's what we know so far.

What's New on the Rapsodo MLM2XPRO?

If you don't want to read the deep dive just yet, here are the biggest changes:

  • Simulation putting — For the first time in the MLM family, the MLM2XPRO can track putting for compatible simulation experiences, allowing golfers to play a complete hole from tee to green.
  • Faster shot-to-show performance — Rapsodo says the new unit delivers significantly faster feedback after impact.
  • Faster connection and setup — The MLM2XPRO has an updated setup and alignment process designed to get you hitting sooner.
  • New LED display — The launch monitor itself now provides information including leveling, battery status and connection status.
  • Adjustable tripod leg — The redesigned tripod makes setup and positioning easier.
  • 15 performance metrics — The MLM2XPRO carries forward Rapsodo's extensive ball and club data, including measured Spin Rate, Spin Axis, Club Path and Angle of Attack.
  • Dual cameras + Doppler radar — The MLM2PRO's tracking technology carries forward into the new model.
  • 30,000+ virtual courses — Core membership opens access to Rapsodo's enormous virtual-course library.
  • New training tools — Bag Mapping and Wedge Matrix are designed to turn launch-monitor data into more useful practice.
  • New Rapsodo Golf Mobile App — The everyday hub for range practice, performance tracking and training.
  • New Rapsodo Golf PC App — A full-screen experience for indoor practice, virtual golf and simulation.
  • Rapsodo Studios — A new premium 4K simulation experience with realistic graphics and physics.
  • R-Cloud — Syncs data across the Rapsodo ecosystem and provides a shot library of up to 10,000 shots.
  • GSPro, E6 Apex, E6 Connect and Awesome Golf support — The MLM2XPRO continues to support major third-party simulation partners.

That's a substantial list—and it becomes even more interesting when you look at how the pieces fit together.

The New Rapsodo Golf Ecosystem

Perhaps the biggest story surrounding the MLM2XPRO isn't actually the launch monitor.

It's the ecosystem.

Rapsodo is moving from an experience centered primarily around a mobile app and launch monitor to a connected system spanning mobile, PC, cloud data, training, virtual golf and premium simulation.

The idea is simple: use the same launch monitor wherever you practice or play, with your performance data following you.

The New Rapsodo Golf Mobile App

The new Rapsodo Golf Mobile App remains the everyday practice hub.

Outdoor golfers can use it for range sessions, performance tracking and training, while features such as Bag Mapping, Wedge Matrix and Impact Vision give golfers more ways to understand what's actually happening with their swings.

The new Bag Mapping feature is particularly interesting for golfers who want to build a more reliable understanding of their real-world distances. Rather than simply looking at a single "best" shot, the goal is to identify dependable carry numbers and understand the gaps between clubs.

Wedge Matrix takes that concept into one of the most important scoring areas in golf: shots inside 100 yards.

According to Rapsodo, golfers can work through different wedge swing lengths—including full, three-quarter, half and quarter swings—to develop real numbers they can take to the course.

That's the kind of functionality that can make a launch monitor more than a gadget you use to watch ball speed.

It becomes a practice tool.

The New Rapsodo Golf PC App

For golfers building a home simulator, the new Rapsodo Golf PC App may be an even bigger development.

This is Rapsodo's first dedicated PC app, bringing the company's golf ecosystem to a larger screen and making it possible to connect practice, feedback and virtual golf in a more traditional home-simulator environment.

It's also where Rapsodo Studios' premium 4K courses run.

The PC app is available as a free download for compatible Rapsodo launch monitors, with PC play included in the Core and Studios memberships. Importantly, Rapsodo says the new mobile and PC apps will continue to support the MLM2PRO, so this isn't an ecosystem being built exclusively for new MLM2XPRO owners.

Rapsodo Studios: A New 4K Simulator Experience

This is where the new ecosystem gets particularly interesting.

Rapsodo Studios is the company's new premium simulation experience, built around 4K course graphics and physics designed to replicate real ball flight, bounce and roll.

At launch, Rapsodo says the Studios library will feature approximately 25 premium courses, including courses such as Bethpage Black, Tobacco Road and Quail Hollow, with additional recognizable courses planned over time.

The experience also includes features designed for groups and families, including:

  • Up to four golfer profiles
  • Junior tees
  • Variable pin locations
  • Tournaments
  • Leaderboards
  • Online play
  • On-Course Practice

And there's an important distinction here.

Core membership provides access to more than 30,000 simulated courses, while Rapsodo Studios adds the premium 4K course library and additional Studios features.

So golfers aren't simply paying more for "more courses." They're choosing between two different levels of the Rapsodo experience.

For golfers primarily interested in practice, data and the huge virtual-course library, Core may be the more natural fit.

For golfers building a dedicated home simulator and looking for a more premium visual and multiplayer experience, Studios is the tier to watch.

And because this is a brand-new ecosystem, we're particularly interested in seeing how the software develops over time.

Rapsodo MLM2PRO vs. MLM2XPRO

The MLM2XPRO isn't a complete reinvention of what made the MLM2PRO popular.

That's actually one of the things we like about it.

Rapsodo has retained the dual-camera and Doppler radar tracking system from the MLM2PRO while focusing the new hardware and software on the areas where the experience can be improved.

The most obvious hardware upgrade is putting.

With the MLM2PRO, golfers could play virtual golf, but putting was not tracked by the launch monitor. The MLM2XPRO changes that, allowing golfers to finish a simulated hole with actual putting rather than relying on automatic putting.

That may sound like a relatively small addition.

For anyone who spends a lot of time playing simulated rounds, it isn't.

Being able to tee off, approach the green and then actually putt out makes the experience feel much more like playing a complete round of golf.

The other upgrades are less dramatic individually but could add up to a much better day-to-day experience: faster feedback, easier setup, a screen on the device itself, and a more streamlined connection process.

Early Review: Frank at Golficity Takes the MLM2XPRO for a Spin

Before our full PlayBetter review is ready, Frank from Golficity has already had several days of hands-on time with the MLM2XPRO and the new Rapsodo software.

And his initial reaction is encouraging.

Putting Is the Big One

Frank's first-look coverage puts putting near the top of the list.

With the MLM2XPRO, golfers can now finish a simulated round without switching to automatic putting. For anyone who wants a more complete simulator experience, this could be one of the most meaningful changes between the MLM2PRO and MLM2XPRO.

The Speed Is Noticeable

Frank also called attention to how quickly the MLM2XPRO displays shot information.

Importantly, he doesn't characterize the MLM2PRO as painfully slow. Rather, the new unit simply feels more immediate, with shot information appearing with virtually no noticeable delay after impact.

That's exactly the kind of improvement that may not sound revolutionary on a specification sheet—but can make a difference when you're hitting shot after shot during a practice session.

Setup Looks Easier

Frank also highlighted the redesigned setup process.

The new alignment flow in the app, combined with the MLM2XPRO's built-in display, is designed to make it easier to know that the unit is properly positioned and ready to go.

The display provides information about leveling, battery and connection status, reducing some of the guesswork before you start hitting.

New Training Tools Add Another Layer

Frank also called out the new Bag Mapping and Wedge Matrix tools.

Bag Mapping can help golfers establish dependable carry distances while filtering out mishits, while Wedge Matrix is designed to help golfers understand how far they actually hit different wedge shots at different swing lengths.

Combined with the 30,000-plus-course library and an $899.99 launch price, Frank's initial assessment is that the MLM2XPRO looks like a compelling contender for golfers shopping for a launch monitor under $1,000.

That's an early impression—not a final verdict.

And that's important, because there's still plenty we want to test.

Is the MLM2XPRO Worth Upgrading To?

That's probably the biggest question current MLM2PRO owners will have.

And right now, we'd say don't make the decision based on one feature alone.

If you already own an MLM2PRO and are happy with it, the MLM2XPRO isn't suddenly making the previous generation obsolete. The core tracking technology carries forward, and Rapsodo says the new Mobile and PC Apps will continue supporting the MLM2PRO.

But there is a compelling collection of upgrades.

Putting. Faster feedback. Easier setup. The new PC experience. New training tools. Rapsodo Studios.

Individually, some of these might not justify replacing an MLM2PRO.

Together, they make the MLM2XPRO feel like a meaningful evolution of the platform.

And for someone who doesn't own a launch monitor yet, the proposition may be even more interesting.

You're no longer just buying a launch monitor.

You're buying into an ecosystem designed to cover outdoor practice, detailed performance analysis, virtual golf, PC simulation and premium 4K course play.

That's a much bigger proposition.

Stay Tuned for More on the Rapsodo MLM2XPRO

There's a lot to be excited about with the new Rapsodo MLM2XPRO.

The hardware gets meaningful quality-of-life upgrades. Simulation finally includes putting. The new Mobile and PC Apps create a more connected experience. New training tools give golfers additional ways to turn data into useful practice. And Rapsodo Studios introduces a premium 4K simulation option that could make the system considerably more compelling for home simulator golfers.

Perhaps most importantly, Rapsodo is building on a platform that golfers already know and trust.

The company isn't starting over.

It's taking the technology behind the MLM2PRO and expanding what golfers can do with it.

The MLM2XPRO will be available to order at PlayBetter starting October 15 for $899.99.

And we're not done testing it.

Our PlayBetter experts Marc, Daniel, and Danny are currently putting the MLM2XPRO, the new Rapsodo apps, the training tools, the simulation experience and the new membership structure through their paces.

We'll be sharing our full findings—including a comprehensive review and a new Golf Tech Weekly podcast—as soon as we've had enough time with the complete ecosystem to tell you what really matters.

For now, the early signs are exciting.

More ways to practice. More ways to play. More ways to improve.

That's a pretty compelling evolution for one of the most trusted names in personal launch monitors.
