Because they make simulator software for many different simulators, devices, and systems, it's hard to tell what the E6 Connect subscription options are for the Garmin Approach R10 and how much they cost, without talking to a sales representative at TruGolf. And because this may be a deciding factor for many in purchasing an Approach R10, we're laying it out for you in this article in the very next section. In the meantime, there are two things you need to know right away about how E6 Connect works with the Garmin Approach R10 launch monitor and simulator:

  1. E6 Connect is only available for the Approach R10 through the Garmin Golf app. You can download this app for free and have the option to purchase premium golf content for your R10—including Home Tee Hero—which has a free 30-day trial membership and then cost $9.99/mo. or $99.99/year.
  2. Currently, E6 Connect for the Approach R10 is available through an iOS mobile device (no Android) or PC (no Mac computers). According to TruGolf, they are working to make E6 Connect available on these other platforms. We will keep you informed. See the third section of this article for easy instructions on how to connect to E6 Connect through your iOS mobile or Windows 10 PC.

The Standard iOS License cost is $1500 USD. That includes 15 courses, 17 practice areas, player profiles and modes of play. This license is a one-time cost and does not expire.

The subscription is simply an annual charge of $300 USD/yr or $600 USD/yr.

How to Connect the Garmin Golf App to E6 Connect

Connecting the Device to the E6 Connect Mobile App

You can connect the device to the E6 Connect mobile app on your compatible iOS® device.

  1. In the Garmin Golf™ app, select Golf Sim > TruGolf E6 Connect > Play on iOS.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Connecting Your Device to the E6 Connect Desktop Application

  1. In the Garmin Golf™ app, select Golf Sim > TruGolf E6 Connect > Play on PC.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

How to Connect Garmin Golf App to E6 Connect

These steps will take you through connecting the Garmin Golf App to E6 Connect through to a Windows 10 PC. E6 Connect is not available for Mac computers.

To begin the process, select Virtual Play in the Garmin Golf App. 

  1. On your computer, right-click This PC  (NOTE: If you cannot locate This PC, type "This PC" in the Type here to search field)
  2. Select Properties
  3. Make note of the computer name
  4. In the Garmin Golf App, enter the computer name
  5. Touch Test Connection  (NOTE: Add ".local" to the end of the computer name if the connection fails, then touch Test Connection again)

Alternative Steps

The computer's IPv4 address can be used in place of the computer name.

To begin the process, select Virtual Play in the Garmin Golf App. 

  1. On your computer, locate Settings (NOTE:If you cannot locate Settings, type "Settings" in the Type here to search field)
  2. SelectNetwork & Internet
  3. Select the connection type (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, etc.) and
  4. Click Hardware Properties
  5. In the Garmin Golf App, enter the IPv4 address
  6. Touch Test Connection

E6 Connect to Do More with Your Approach R10

Should you get E6 Connect via your Approach R10? It depends on what you want out of this Garmin launch monitor and simulator. If you are purchasing the R10 for the simulator side of it, E6 Connect definitely adds benefits like tools, competition, and entertainment. If you are into photorealistic gaming and want to use the tools to improve, it's a no-brainer. Should you buy the one-time license to E6 Connect or do a yearly subscription? That will depend on if you are using an iOS device or a PC, and if you think you will continue to use this software for years to come. E6 Connect offers a lot of high-quality simulation and seems to be enthusiastic about upgrades, so either way, if you're going to spend a lot of time with this software, it seems like a pretty smart purchase!
