Certified Pre-Owned Garmin R10 + New Home Tee Hero Upgrades = Best Golf Sim Deal of 2026
Garmin just turned the R10 into a whole new simulator—and you can grab one for $399.99. With premium Home Tee Hero upgrades now included, this might be the best home golf sim deal of 2026.
Let’s not bury the lede with this one. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about getting into golf simulation at home, brother, it is time to act.
The Garmin Approach R10 just got a massive software upgrade that completely changes what you’re getting for your money. And PlayBetter’s got a limited stock of certified pre-owned units at $399.99. That’s $200 off the original retail price for a device that’s essentially brand new, backed by the same 1-year Garmin warranty you’d get buying retail.
This isn’t some clearance sale because the product is outdated. The R10 just became more relevant thanks to what Garmin announced at the 2026 PGA Show. R10 users now get the premium Home Tee Hero graphics that were previously exclusive to the $5,000 R50.
Plus new Enhanced Courses.
Plus a new on-course practice mode.
Plus integration with the PGA Tour schedule so that you can play along with the guys on TV.
All of this for a device you can now pick up for four hundred bucks.
Let me walk you through why this is such a killer deal right now.
What Is a Certified Pre-Owned R10 (vs Open Box/Used Garmin R10)?
Pre-owned can mean a lot of different things depending on where you’re shopping. So let’s clear this up.
A Certified Pre-Owned Garmin R10 from PlayBetter is a unit that’s been refurbished directly by Garmin. This is not a random return thrown back in a box. Garmin puts these through their full recertification process, testing them to the same specs as when they rolled off the manufacturing line.
You’re getting a device that’s been professionally inspected, restored to factory standards, and cleared by Garmin’s own engineers. The quality is like new. The box might have a broken tape seal, or maybe a dinged corner, but inside, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between this and a brand-new unit.
Plus, Garmin is backing these with their full 1-year warranty. Not 90 days or some watered-down “as-is” language. This is the same exact warranty you’d get buying a new R10 at full retail price.
On top of that, PlayBetter throws in their 60-day return policy, so if you’re not happy, you send it back. No hassle.
See what I mean when I say this is a killer deal?
Just reviewing the facts here, you’re getting an R10 at a $200 discount that’s as good as new and that comes with the same warranty. And Garmin just upgraded the accompanying simulator software without raising the price. I mean, we’ve got kind of a nice situation on our hands here.
Certified Pre-Owned R10 Price
The numbers are straightforward. The R10 originally retailed for $599.99. These certified pre-owned units are $399.99.
How good are you at math?
This is the launch monitor that created the affordable golf simulator craze back in 2021. Before the R10, you either spent thousands on something serious, or you accepted some serious limitations. That’s just how it was.
But what’s crazy is that the R10 is still holding its own as one of the most trusted launch monitors you can buy. And at $400 with these new software upgrades, it’s a borderline absurd value. I’ll talk more about the new Home Tee Hero sim software version in just a second.
What the R10 Still Delivers
The R10 measures ball speed, club speed, launch angle, and launch direction directly using radar. From there, it calculates a full suite of 20 metrics including carry distance, total distance, spin rate, smash factor, apex height, club path, and face angle.
And it’s remarkably accurate for the price. Is it perfect? No, but when you set it up correctly and if you use RCT balls when you’re playing indoors, it’s really, really close.
The way I see it is if you’re looking at a sub-$500 launch monitor, you’re probably not chasing tour-level accuracy with every metric. Instead, you want reliable feedback that’s close enough to help you improve. You’re going to get that and much better with the R10. No question.
It’s also really easy to use. It’s literally the size of a deck of cards, so it’s extremely portable. And it’s simple to set up.
But that’s just talking about getting data. Let’s get into game play.
A Major 2026 Upgrade to Garmin’s Home Tee Hero Sim Software
At the 2026 PGA Show, Garmin showed me a really cool update to their Home Tee Hero golf simulator software. And I think it makes this already sweet deal even sweeter.
When Garmin released their show-stopping golf-launch-monitor-and-simulator-in-one R50, they did so with an improved version of the Home Tee Hero software that R10 owners had been using. The new version included drastically superior graphics and details. It made the original Home Tee Hero look pretty cartoonish.
Well, now R10 users get the better, more graphically souped-up Home Tee Hero version that used to be exclusive to the R50. That’s huge. We’re talking dramatically improved course renderings with a lot more realism on more than 43,000 courses worldwide.
On top of that, Garmin added Enhanced Courses, which takes the most famous tracks in the world and gives them even greater graphical fidelity. High-resolution lidar data for every green contour. Significantly improved tree coverage across the entire layout. And just a lot more overall attention to detail throughout these premium courses.
Home Tee Hero Course List
So far, the Enhanced Courses (which don’t cost anything extra) include:
- Augusta National Golf Club
- Bay Hill Club & Lodge - Championship
- Cascata
- Innisbrook Golf Resort - Copperhead
- Los Angeles Country Club - North
- Pebble Beach Golf Links
- PGA National Resort & Spa - Champion
- PGA West - TPC Stadium
- Pinehurst Resort No. 2
- Riviera Country Club
- Tiburon Golf Club - Black
- TPC at Deere Run
- TPC at Sawgrass - Stadium
- TPC of Scottsdale - Stadium
- Wolf Creek Golf Course
Again, you get all of those in addition to more than 43,000 courses, which is basically anywhere in the world you could play.
And then there’s the new on-course practice mode. So now you can hit any shot on any hole as many times as you want without playing the entire hole or course. So if you just want to sit on number 17 at TPC Sawgrass and fire shots at the island green, you can do it for as long as you want. Pretty cool. I can also see it as a useful feature if you’re preparing for a golf trip and want to scout out some different shots you’re likely to face.
Plus, Home Tee Hero now syncs with the PGA Tour schedule, so you can play the same courses the pros are playing each week. It’s a small touch, but I think it adds a cool layer.
All of these updates are live now and none of them come with a software price increase.
Home Tee Hero Cost
To use Home Tee Hero, you need a Garmin Golf membership subscription. I know, nobody likes subscriptions.
But this one is only $9.99 per month or $99 per year. And they haven’t raised the price since they rolled it out, including with these most recent big upgrades.
Also, consider that for other third-party simulator software, you’re likely going to pay at least a couple hundred bucks a year. So now that Home Tee Here is more graphically competitive, the software price is pretty attractive.
The subscription also unlocks other premium features across Garmin’s golf ecosystem. Meaning that if you also use a Garmin golf watch, you can get things like green contour data and course maps for the same one Garmin subscription. They don’t ding you multiple times to unlock all of the features in all of their devices.
Home Tee Hero and Garmin Golf App System Requirements
Home Tee Hero can be played on Apple or iOS devices, which is another awesome advantage. And neither option requires too much horsepower.
Apple iOS Requirements:
- iOS 18 or later
- Compatible with iPhone and iPads with an A12 processor or better
Android Requirements:
- 10.0 Android Operating System or higher
- Compatible with phones
- Device must natively support Google Play Store
Phones that feature Android (Go edition) will list the Home Tee Hero app as incompatible in the Play Store due to limitations making it incompatible.
Who Should Get a Certified Pre-Owned Garmin R10?
I mean, there are definitely other golf simulator options out there. And if you want to spend more money, you can get even better performance.
But the reason this deal is so exciting is because it means that you don’t have to spend very much at all to get something that’s very legitimate.
I really wouldn’t let the pre-owned thing trip you up. I’d jump on this. It’s a unit that Garmin has signed off on saying it is good as new and that they are backing with the same warranty. But you get to save $200. And now, with the improved software, it’s an even better device than before.
I think this is one of these deals that, if any of this is speaking to your budget or your likely use cases, you should act.
The R10 has been around since 2021, and it’s still one of the best-selling golf launch monitors. That should tell you something. It’s reliable, accurate enough for serious practice, portable, works with a bunch of third-party software, and now, with the Home Tee Here upgrades, it’s got premium native simulator software.
And you can get a certified pre-owned model, backed by Garmin’s full warranty, for $399.99. That really is a pretty sick price. I actually think it’s the deal of the year.
